چکیده

background: bladder cancer (bc) is the most common genitourinary cancer in iranians with an unclear etiopathogenesis. long stress induced non-coding transcript 5 is a member of the 12-member family of long non-coding rnas, which is abundantly expressed in higher proliferative cells, as well as the cell vulnerable to cellular stress in response to chemical carcinogens. as variations in long non-coding rnas have been suggested to involve in cancer pathogenesis, this case-control study was performed to determine whether lsinct5 rs2962586 polymorphism is associated with bladder cancer. materials and methods: a group of 150 patients with bc were compared with 143 subjects as a control group. genotyping of the rs2962586 polymorphism in exon region of the transcript was done using tetra- primer amplification refractory mutation system-polymerase chain reaction (t-arms pcr) method. results: no allelic or genotypic association of the studied polymorphism was observed in this study. however, repeating the analysis in a separate group’s base on smoking resulted in a significant increased risk of bc among smokers. conclusion: considering the result of our analyses, it seems that lsinct5 could not affect individual susceptibility to bc among iranian patients, however, it can be considered as a disease predictor among smokers.

Evaluation of Long Stress-Induced Non-coding Transcripts 5 Polymorphism in Iranian Patients with Bladder Cancer

Background: Bladder cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed genitourinary cancer in Iran, presented in both men and women. BC is a multifactorial trait resulting from the complex interaction between several genes and environmental factors. Long stress-induced non-coding transcript 5 (LSINCT5), a member of the long non-coding RNAs, is abundantly expressed in high proliferative cells, as well ...

The Role of Long Non-Coding RNAs in Ovarian Cancer

Background: Ovarian cancer is the most fatal tumor of female's reproductive system, and several genetics and environmental factors are involved in its development. Various studies have already identified suitable biomarkers to facilitate the early detection, prognosis evaluation, and the assessment of treatment response. However, the aim of this review was to investigate the role of long non-co...

Dysregulated Expression of Long Intergenic Non-coding RNAs (LincRNAs) in Urothelial Bladder Carcinoma

Long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) has been introduced as key regulators of diverse biological processes, including transcription, chromatin organization, cell growth and tumorigenesis. With regard to the potential role of lincRNAs in cancer development, one may postulate that differential expression of lincRNAs could be employed as a tool in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted ther...

Long, abundantly expressed non-coding transcripts are altered in cancer.

Recent studies with tiling arrays have revealed more genomic transcription than previously anticipated. Whole new groups of non-coding transcripts (NCTs) have been detected. Some of these NCTs, including miRNAs, can regulate gene expression. To date, most known NCTs studied have been relatively short, but several important regulatory NCTs, including XIST, MALAT-1, BC1 and BC200, are considerabl...
